Pulmonary artery rupture in pregnancy complicating patent ductus arteriosus.

Fatal haemopericardium in a 27 year old pregnant woman was caused by rupture of a dissecting aneurysm of the pulmonary artery. She had an uncorrected patent ductus arteriosus and severe pulmonary hypertension. The wall of the pulmonary artery showed atherosclerosis and cystic medionecrosis.

Idiopathic cystic medionecrosis and aneurysms of the ascending aorta.

SUMMARY Two patients with ascending aortic aneurysms due to cystic medical necrosis are described. One of them was phenotypically normal while the other had features of Marfan's syndrome. Both were disabled by dyspnoea and angina which required corrective surgery.

Idiopathic internal mammary artery aneurysm in the setting of aberrant right subclavian artery

Aneurysms of the internal mammary artery are extremely rare. Immediate treatment is necessary because of the high risk of rupture that can be life-threatening. Here we describe a case of idiopathic internal mammary artery aneurysm in a 54-year-old woman in the setting of aberrant right subclavian artery. The aneurysm was successfully treated with coil embolization without complications.

Rupture of pulmonary artery aneurysm associated with persistent ductus arteriosus.

Fatal haemopericardium occurred in a 14-year-old boy after rupture of a pulmonary artery aneurysm. Persistent ductus arteriosus with severe pulmonary hypertension was confirmed by cardiac catheterisation when he was 4 weeks old.
